Mother Catherine Perumalil SD

Born : 18/04/1912 First Profession : 29/ 05/1937 Demise : 14 /04/2015 Sr.Catherine (Annamma) was born as the second of four children, to late Mr. Kurian Korah and late Mrs.Thresiamma of Perumalil Purakariyil family, Athirampuzha, Changanassery Archdiocese. While she was at her mother’s house, Chennoth, Kokkamangalam, she met Msgr.George Valliarumpeth and shared her desire to dedicate herself for the service of the poor. She joined SD Chunangamvely and made her First Profession on 29 May, 1937 and Perpetual Profession on 3 July, 1953. Late Srs. Marceline SD and Emirit SD are her nieces. Sr.Catherine was Superior General for two terms (1946-49, 1955-56). She also served as the general councillor, formator and local superior. Mar Augustine Kandathil had appointed her as the formator in CSN Congregation. She was very loving, had the innate ability to make others happy, transparent, neat and orderly. Her profound spirituality and gentle dealings made her dear to all. One could see the blend of prayer and action in the right proportion in her. She served as a loving receptionist for long years in Chunangamvely and at Provincial House, Chethipuzha, till she was 95 years old. She had been in communities at Malayattoor, Palluruthy, Cheranalloor, Chempu, Pala and Alapuzha. She celebrated her Platinum Jubilee of her profession cum birth centenary in 2012. Last years of her life, she was in Santwana, waiting for the call from her divine spouse. On 14 April, 2015, this holy soul was taken to the heavenly abode for eternal reward.
